I like to test the alkalinity of the effluent of my calcium reactor and have only a Salifert test kit.

The effluent has an alkalinity that is higher than the one on the test kit table when emptying 1 complete syringe of the Salifert reagent.

Is it correct that I can add a second/third syringe and count the total ml to get the final alkalinity?

I've only done it with magnesium but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I was asking because the Salifert support is useless. I cannot even find a proper email address.

I tested the effluent of the calcium reactor and had to refil the syringe with reagent 3 times, resulting in an ALK of over 57dKh. pH was around 5.7
I am not even sure if this is chemically even possible.

It is possible. Randy's 2-part calculates to over 5,000dKH so what you are reading isn't even terribly high.

You should also be able to dilute the effluent by half with RO water then test. Double the test results for actual effluent alk level. This would extend the number of tests you get.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
