hello,

I am beginning to lose coral sps and lps. I sent the water out for icp testing. It came back that the aluminum is at 43.9. Anyone have any suggestion on how to get the levels down. I have attached the icp test report. The test also says that the salinity is low but its confirmed that it is not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. \

warmest regards

Do you use MarinePure media? I’ve heard about it leaching as it gets older and maybe even if it wasn’t rinsed well enough.

Son of a gun. I used the Algae barn refugium start up kit. I believe that's what they supply.

I would not be sure the aluminum is the coral problem, but I agree the media is a likely source.

You might benefit from a trace element supplement (such as Tropic Marin A and K), or the coral problem may have nothing to do with chemistry.

Thank you so much for responding. I will give it a whirl. I did a 30% water water change . Do you suggest using Metasorb or another product to remove the aluminum ?

To remove alluminum metasorb will be your best bet.

But if Randy says that the alluminum isn't the corals problem you may want to pick his brain a little more to help you find your issue chemistry wise as he suggests.
