My tank has been running high calcium 500+ but my alk is stable at 9.0 I have a couple of sps sticks and some lps and some softies. Ph is stable at 7.9. I dose sodium bicarbonate and am planning to switch when I run out of the sodium bicarbonate. I do 10% water changes every 3 weeks. Everything is healthy with only the occasion mort from a new purchase. What can be causing the high calcium reading. I checked with a Hanna and a salifert kit.

500 ppm calcium is not a concern. Some salt mixes are that high.

900 ppm would be (and is very unlikely).

Try using a second syringe of titrant to get an actul value for calcium (by adding the two together) to get to the color change.

Thanks for the response. I use IO reef crystals. I didn’t realize that the calcium was that high over the 420 mark
