I need some advice here. After testing water yesterday calcium level is at 550
Should I be concerned about high calcium level? Are there any negative side effects of higher calcium in the water?

thank you

Kinda depends on what your other numbers are.

agree is does depend on what your other parraameters.

if you haven't read: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php

The first step in getting calcium, alk, and magnesium lined up.

If you calcium is high and alk low, adding baking soda will increase alk and lower calcium and magnesium.

if both calcium and alk are high then I would just let them drop down to normal levels.

Magnesium in my old 55g was way low like 700-800ppm as with another local club member. It took literally pounds of magnesium sulfate to get it up to 1350pm After that it followed the recommend dosing of the diy two part link mentioned above.

Still that's just my .02

I’ve had high calcium issue for last 7 month, just not sure what are the bad long temp effects of it. Corals seem to be doing just fine.

My alk is steady between 8.5 8.8
Mag is pretty high 1550
I run cal reactor and salt I used is reef crystal
