In my tank 125gallon i have 16 pcs cleaner crew an two clownfish, about 30-35kg dry rock. My truble is, for some reason the ca level was a low 340ppm, i did some extra in the tank but now is too much 490ppm :/ i can see the clowns is stress i some times goes up the top and sucks bit of air.
My question, how can i decrease the ca level?
Thanks guys

Calcium at 490ppm isn’t bad at all. I’m usually around 500. How did you add the calcium? What product did you use? What test kit did you use?

Sorry for all the questions, it helps to know all aspects to correctly answer.

Mine is always around 520 no matter what I do. I assume its the salt I use. I don't dose calcium. Even heavy water changes don't bring it down. Everything in my tank is happy tho so I've not worried too much about it.

Oh yes, i just had some panic :D but the clowns just sucks down the food from the surface :D i never see befor this thing :D
I have same, i can’t bring down the ca level in the water, but everything looks good

As your tank gets older it will use more calcium if you have coral and coraline algae.
To lower your calcium you will need to change the water. The water you add will need to be at lower calcium level. After you mix your water test the calcium level. If it is lower than your tank calcium level, by changing water the calcium level will drop in your tank.
My level is kept between 450 to 490

But I can't change it as it effects the salinity. My salt has calcium fir a mixed reef so it'll never go down unless diluted which I can't do due to salinity dropping, I keep mine at 1.025. I have a lot of corals but not any sps so I'm not sure they will use up much calcium. Thinking of changing my salt to see if it helps. I do a 20% change weekly and my levels are always the same. And I have loads of coralline algae.
