Hello,

May i know how to lower the ca level
I have a 1000L tank
I am using Instant Ocean salt, doing 10% water change every week
Ca level is around 540 from Salifert test kit
Quite sure the number correct because soft coral doing no good. And all plant is the refugium is dead. LPS is fine.
I did not dose any ca supplement. Is there any way to lower thr ca level beside water change? Thanks

Are you dosing Calcium or topping off with saltwater? I can’t see how IO water changes could get Calcium that high.

As far as lowering, the only way I can see is wait for corals to consume it or water changes with lower Cal salt.

I did not dose any supplement to the tank as there are not much coral in it.
I thought 10% water change would provide enough minerals to the tank.
Salinity is 1.026
Kh is 8.3 for a long time
I am sure i am adding freshwater to top off
Ok
So any suggestion for low calcium salt?

You're already using a low calcium salt mix. IO mixes to 400 @ 35ppt/1.026. Either your salinity measurement is off when mixing new salt water, or your calcium test kit is failing you. Get a Hanna Checker. They are the simplest and most accurate since there is no need to try and match colors.

Check the current salinity of the tank water. Chances are it could be creeping high. Use a refractometer and ensure its calibrated correctly.

Check your freshwater with a TDS meter. The total dissolved solid in water should be less than 5 ppm.

Using freshwater instead of RODI,
Besides maybe adding other unwanted reef stuff...
This can hold a lot of calcium carbonates.

Together with the levels that come with your saltine
AND a tank consuming only Little
Ca levels can increase unwanted high.
