as always in our tanks its one thing to the next n when its all settled we get another tank.well mine isnt settled yet n i need an idea on lowering calcium, the best n hopefully easiest way i can as i no reactors or fancy equipement.i find many ways to raise cal.but not many on lowering any thoughts would b great thanks allR

What are you parameters? Where is it now and where do you want it to go?

Easy!! Just get some corals that consume calcium! :p

it was540 yesterday and alk has droped 3 points,it too was high ,iv been doing water changes every 2 to 3 days to get my numbers in line n as the alk is finally droping my cal.is now riseing.id lie to get back to 420 to 460 c and 8 to 11 alk thank youR

I would say water changes with a salt that matches your desired number would be the best bet. How big is your system and how big are your water changes?

thats what id like to do but not adding anything new till my berghia accomplish their mission and did try to see which corals use the most to try that n a small way any thoughts about adding purified water into my salt water mix as i m sure that changeing my water source is my prob R

my system is 30 gal n my changes r 2 5 gal n one 10 gal change per wk for past 3 weeks n its gone up

Agree with OrionN above. Either your tests are off or you may have a funky batch of salt. Check both of those first.

You need better test kits or change salt (what salt do you use?). Either your salt have way too much Ca in it, which is unlikely, or the test kit is bad.
so far ive tried or have used coral pro switched to reef crystals n today am trying reef salt both instant ocean iv been useing api test kit n know its nopt the best but its been consistant n just got a new kit its all they have at my lfs the only switch has been my water source.where i was getting it changed filtering method n didnt hav near enough n where im getting it now has way too much.thats what iv been trying to sort out n thought if i cant find another way will have to try a water mix n not sure of that thank you for any ideas

What king of water do you use to mix your salt water? You should use RO water for your salt mix.

Adding more water will not solve your problem it will bring down the salinity and everything down a little because the decrease salinity which is not at all what you need.
Even if you use really hard water, the Ca in it should not be anywhere high enough to boost your calcium that much (I think). What kind of water do you use to mix your salt? The problem with tap or well water is not the Ca in it but all the other impurities that is in it. Using them long term may wreck your tank due to build up of the micro toxins.

Please try to edit your post. It is really hard for me to follow what you are writing due to the errors in it.

You can not chase wrong number. It is a test kit problem.
Use RO water to mix your salt and get better test kit.

Most likely, you are chasing your tail due to wrong numbers you get from your test kit.

im sorry for my typeing and computeing.im just learning both n seriousy dont mean to make it more difficult.i was useing water from a water outlet here n was fine for years then they changed filtering methods n only have purified water that has nothing in it .when i went to my lfs he doesnt have or use r.o. water he uses tap and kordon in his tanks n so ive been useing that for a short while.at least until i can find another source or can afford an r.o. system.
