A few tips:
a) start with live rock
b) heavy in / heavy out ... fish food / fish poo
c) Keep your expectations low in the beginning; just accept that uglies are normal. A phase.
d) Utility fish. Algae blenny, zebrasomas, foxface.

I would recommend dosing no3 with neonitro and neophose. I would also recommend a Fuge with Chaeto. the excess no3 and po4 will create algae so you need something else to absorb it and the chaeto will work great. the chaeto and having a light on the fuge 24.7 will also help with your PH. I would also recommend some Tangs to which will eat some of the algae on the rocks.

Yes a great cleanup grew with snails goes a long way!

Its a very hard game because sadly enough most of the tenuis die off. If i get 100 Colonies maybe only 15 will live past the 6 months mark and only 7-10 will live past the 8 month mark. We try and hold them for 8-12 months minimum before releasing them back to the hobby as signature pieces.

Was reading thru their site on some element info they had there & fell over that, thought it was kind of an interesting statement in regard tenius & dkh.
Think i remember you posting you had info of indo water @ 9dkh rather than what they are saying there about sub 7's.
Those guys also have a farm side.
You tried lower dkh on the new import ones?

Shane this is a bit of a loaded question, but which rodi u it would you suggest. I won’t be running the filter on well water but I’m positive there are chloramines that as used. Would you suggest bulk reef supplies brand? I know you change them often so I would like your input. I have never messed with a booster pump and it’s my mother in laws house. My current unit at my fathers house is really over ten years old with only changing the filters as the maintenance. I have never changed the reactions on it at all, and the gauge doesn’t move at all so I’m not sure what pressures either house push.

We would Suggest the BRS ones they are super easy to use and they always have the parts in stock. How much water are you going to make per month? I think clean RODI water is the most Important thing so to get a stage 7 filter i think its a good thing even with well water you can never be too careful IMO

with that said we have some announcements coming about changing salts! We have found Sadly enough that tropic Marin pro salt is very high in Iron. We have sent in 7 new Triton tests. ( yes 7 different tests!)

I just received a box of Pro Reef salt from the plant in Turkey and am weary to use it. I understand that @Lou Ekus has stated that the Turkey salt should be exactly the same as the German, however I've noticed some differences and wanting to see if anyone else has noticed or have encountered...

Hi Shane, I noticed this statement in your response, and it struck my curiosity. You run light 24-7 on a fuge? So it never turns off? I was surprised by that because I thought fuges were generally run on reverse lighting compared the the dt?

We have found Sadly enough that tropic Marin pro salt is very high in Iron.

This is not new and I think it also isn't unique. Without anticaking salt would form a rockhard lump in the bucket. The usual anticakings contain iron, phosphate or silicate.

All statements, results etc. in at least the last 20 years where done with a salt with anticaking and it seemed not so detrimental. The only thing that is new about the iron in our Tropic Marin salts is that ICP-OES analyses find this iron.

Hello Daniel,

IMO you can run a fuge for 24 hours or 12 hours. I think it's just on preference. we like to run ours 24.7 so the chaeto is constantly growing. THIs way no other algae gets a chance to grow in other places. I also think running the fuge 24.7 will keep the PH highest at the maximum possible. Are you running a fuge currently?
