High flow, Low light Suggestions

Hi All,

Looking for coral suggestions to suit high flow, low light area of a nano mixed reef tank.

Thats tuff. Non photosynthetic would be good. Sponge. Gorgs and sea whips. You need to feed the tank a little more and provide some particulate foods but eh. It can be done. Small tanks are easy to do water changes on with a cup ect. So thats good. Low light will keep the algae away too. Another +.

Some.sponge prefer cryptic low flow so u will have to find or grow the sponge to.suit ur tank.

Thank you all... yer I knew it was gonna be a tough one.

I've tried mushrooms but they close up and look like they are about to blow off, so I've had to move them.

It's my first tank, so maybe I'll try GSP, and hopefully I can control its growth so it doesn't take over.

If theres any other suggestions, please keep them coming.

How about toadstool or finger leathers? The area is not being blasted by a wavemaker, it's the return path of flow. Heres a video of a goni under flow in the same return path flow to give an idea.

I've seen some long tentacle torches in similar flow but I would say that's the max and without some alternate current they would ultimately not be happy. Maybe throw a hydor rotating deflector or similar device on that return could open some bigger options for you. To your question, I have a couple devil's claws that don't mind current like that.

Sympodium, if you can source some. They're gorgeous, live blue clove polyps, but much better behaved. I had some on a rock in a shadowed location with high flow in my Evo, and they did well, but I moved them to a location where I could appreciate their beauty.

Thanks for that, completely forgot that it's the same criteria despite watching that video a few times in the past.

Good selection of species that I dont have in the tank, so definitely a rock face to address with the recommendations!!!
