I’m using the Triton “other methods”.

My most recent test shows that lanathum has accumulated into the orange zone.

Am I stuck to just using GFO, my skimmer, and my chaeto to combating phosphates?

Carbon will get it out.

I assume the compound is lanathum phosphate, which I would think wouldn’t be absorbed by activated carbon. But, I could certainly be wrong.

Are there others with experience in this?

What is in the water is likely lanthanum ion, which is what you are dosing (assuming you are).

The precipitated lanthanum carbonate and lanthanum phosphate presumably precipitates out as a solid.

I do not know what levels of lanthanum become a concern in a reef aquarium.

Thanks for chiming in Randy! Your insight is always greatly appreciated.

It is odd to me that my lanathum ion is elevated, as I have always had detectable phosphates (0.03-0.12 on the Hanna ULR checker.)

Are you dosing lanthanum? I wouldn't assume that all lanthanum will precipitate just because there is some phosphate.

I only dose maybe once a month, if my phosphate jumps up.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
