I was wondering if there are any corals you guys would recommend for a new reefer that could go high up on my rock scape?
I am just wondering what my options are?
Here is my rock scape.

I have one Ponape birdsnest coral at the top. I have read that maybe it would be better in lower light. Would you recommend I move this coral?

I would really like to have a coral on top of that pilar rock on the right hand back corner. Maybe this would be considered medium light as it is at the side of the tank?
Tank is a fluval evo 13.5 with sicce. 1.0 upgrade and current usa 660 wavemaker. I am using an A. I. Prime light hung ten inches above my water level.

Can't wait to hear what you can come up with!!

That’s typically SPS-zone. Montis/Acros will love it but Acros are a lot more sensitive to having a stable tank.

Any sps my friend
Thanks for reply! I am aware sps is high light and flow. I was looking for more specific types. Ones that would be more hardy and better suited to a novice reefer.
Also just wondering what you guys think would look cool!!

Other corals I’ve looked into for a similar space I’m planning on having in my build are stylos and pocis. I gather that some people view them as SPS Xenia but everything I’ve read makes it seem like they’re a more forgiving starting point than even monti’s. So that’s what I’m planning on going with, along with Pavona and lepto. If people think digitatas and Capricornis montis are good starting points I may switch up my stocking list. But yeah, just my 2 cents as a fellow newb who tends to obsessively research anything I’m interested in because I love to learn lol

Awesome! I like the look of stylos pretty cool. I have never heard of pocis before I will have to look into that one.
I have a tangerine lepto that I love. My lfs had it in the lps section but i guess it is an sps coral?

yea leptos are weird. I’ve seen them listed as lps but also sps. The poci i mentioned is pocilipora (sp?). Idk, it’s another bit of sps that is apparently a big portion of what actually grows reef structures along with stylopora, montipora, and to some extent even acros. That said, montis and acros seem a bit ambitious to me, so yeah. I’m planning on sticking to the “weeds” for the time being

Does anyone think I could get away with a chalice coral on top of that side rock on the right? They say medium light and flow.
I think if it grew and looked like it was melting down the rock it would look really cool.
