My SPS that have nice color are lower in the tank, and I received some frags of SPS that are supposed "light hogs" so I put them up close to the surface. They have turned brown and aren't colored up at all, so I've moved them down in the tank about 3-4."

Anyone else have this happen to them? What were the results? If the corals colored back up, how long did it take?

Any experiences or anecdotes would be appreciated, thanks.

Peace,

Chip

Yes LEDs have a different power to them. Bc they are more focused they are quite strong. It will take longer to get them used to the LEDs as well. When I had t5s corals got used to it with in 2 weeks and I could put the coral where ever I pleased. With MH it took about a month.... My led Vegas take about 2 months depending on the coral...

If u can the best way for me is to take the coral put it on a frag rack and place at the bottem of the tank. If it looks like its reaching for the light move it up a little. If u see its starting to bleach out move back down and let it stay there for a week or two before moving the rack higher up the tank and repeat this until u have it in an area in which u want to stick it on the rock and then ur good...

Hope that made sense.

I had a few sps at the top that turned white when I added reefbrite blue xhos. It was more like sunburn (only white in direct light of leds) than typical bleaching (white all over). The one piece that didn't recover I moved lower and it started recovering quickly.

I always start low no matter what.
I have about 91 SPS frags in my tank from 1" to colonies, all started low and work their way up.
All in full color as of now and have crazy growth out of it.
Yes, I do run Leds Radions and soon it will be Radion Pro's.
