High Mag

My magnesium continues to be high. Over 1600. Alk is 10.4 and Cal is 480. How can I lower magnesium?

Do you have any idea how your mag got so high? Depending on your livestock 1600 shouldnt be detrimental it will come down with water changes.

How are you testing? Red Sea Pro is notorious for giving false high results on the Magnesium test... If you are using that kit, I'd use a different brand to verify before worrying about how to change it.

+1 on Red Sea Pro test kit reading high. I use Elos now for Mg test only.

I was wondering if the Red Sea test kit was false. Mag has been high all along everything else is good or coming down with water changes.

If u need confirmation, u can have ur LFS do a comparison test.
