No, it doesn't look normal. Actual magnesium demand is usually about 1/10 the calcium demand, and cannot really be much higher EXCEPT if the levels are being messed with by water changes.

What salt mix are you using? Which test kits?

Thanks kj took me the better part of the day to read and understand it. That's why I came to ask if my tank sounds normal as all tanks are different and mine sounds wrong.

Coral pro 200l once a month WC and salifert kits and I use RODI.

What salinity and how are you measuring that?

Red Sea Coral Pro at 35 ppt should have magnesium well above 1400 ppm. It didn't get depleted down to what you have now, so perhaps it is testing error, a bad or inhomogeneous batch, or low salinity.

0.024 I use a RSK refractometer and calibrated it last week. My wc is due tomorrow should I do a bigger wc at 0.025 About 2 buckets (22 kg) back I used seachem reef salt and started having to dose magnesium after that.

Just tested with new kit as my old one was almost finish and is at 1260 and I just added 20g magnesium 4 hours ago.

Did the wc mag stayed at 1220
Cal 420 kh 8.6.
Had to dose mag to 1380.
Will keep you posted on the depletion.
Thanks again for your help.

Can the aragonite sand bed be the source of calcium for the water and be the answer to my "high" magnesium depletion.
