High Mg in Instant Ocean

While there may be bad batches around, I think magnesium testing is more often a problem than that a full bucket of any salt mix reaches 2,000 ppm.

Be sure to mix a whole bucket. Salt mixes can settle and become inhomogeneous.

Got the Red Sea Blue and it's 1000x better than IO. Mixes super fast, clear, and near no dust when scooping. Plus comes with ICP. IO doesn't even list their parameters on packaging

Have you tested it with the same kits you used to evaluate Instant Ocean? That would be more convincing than using a manufacturer value that we have little idea how it relates to what is in each bucket.

That batch analysis is for the specific bucket; I have no reason not to trust it for my specific bucket.

Hanna Mg was showing three consecutive 1695, 1680, 1675. After switching to Red Sea Blue and only two water changes I'm now showing 1540.
The Red Sea Blue dkH of 8 is better and the calcium in IO was always too low (under 390) so I had to add. My Ca now is showing at 422 with no additional dosing needed.

It really is 1000x better than IO

That seems extraordinarily unlikely and they do not claim it that I have seen. A batch might be thousands of pounds in a giant mixer. You have to hope each bucket got filled homogeneously.

But if you trust them, then you can never be disappointed with a bad test kit. lol
