I have had Mo raising in the tank for over a year now and wanted to try and get on top or understand where it could be coming from. I do not dose a known brand for dealing with nitrate which I have seen can possible be a source of Mo, I do have a lot of media blocks in the tank and was wondering if they have any Mo in them to help the bacteria thrive in the blocks? I probably have way more blocks than I should in the size tank I have, plus nitrate has always been an issue going up even with having a refugium but was wondering if the blocks could be an issue or anyone come across them being a issue if not replaced or cleaned? I'm debating removing all the blocks to see if the Mo levels reduce on there own by not having the blocks in the sump? current Mo value is 86.7 from fauna icp and I have had levels of over 40 for over a year

It's pretty natural in salts and Addatives.

Here's a write up that may help.

If you can find the source which may be the blocks I would remove them. But finding the source is key.
