Hey guys and gals I have a question for you, yesterday I did a water change and cleaned up my sump, which released a huge cloud of detritus and who knows what, today my water is crystal clear all my params are acceptable but my nitrates are sky high, the weird thing to me is I have tested twice with a kit I know is good and it's reading 0 phosphates, has anyone else come across this? Or have suggestions on how to deal with this?

Depends on the type of filtration you're using; some removes PO4 and some removes NO3. I often test 0 NO3 and low PO4, it can go either way, as mentioned, it depends on your system. You could experiment with carbon dosing, explore refugiums, media reactors, etc. to lower your NO3. Whatever you do, do it slowly, carefully and monitor it closely.
