Vinegar doesn't promote cyano?

In my tank I had less cano with it than vodka. That may have been due simply to the species/strains of cyano that I had and what they preferred to consume, but I have generally heard of less cyano issues from others using vinegar than vodka. You can still have cyano with any organic compound dosing, however, and I always had a little (which didn't bother me).

FWIW, I think vinegar (acetate) may be taken up by a wider range of organisms (up to and including corals and maybe even macroalgae) than is vodka (ethanol), so perhaps it has a shorter lifetime in the tnak and hence less chance for just pests to consume it.
