High Nitrates - Advice?

There is also That Aquarium Place. I'm not that familiar with it but he's pretty popular on MARSH.

There is a guy on MARSH who was selling a 5 stage BRS RODI system with new filters for $100. He may still have it. You can text him 832 270 42 four one.
Assuming your from the area? I'm on MARSH as well, however I'm not sure why I couldn't see my forums posting (perhaps no mods to approve), let me see about that RODI system.

Are you a paying member? Maybe it takes a certain number of posts for them to go through.

Go into the WTB section and search rodi.

Not a paying member yet.. Wanted to check it out first. Did a quick search and all the RODI systems that came up recently look like they are sold. I'm going to keep an eye out for them. Thanks for all the info man.

So that's about 90 gal minus, give or take, 20% of total volume for rock, sand, equipment
lets do some math here
80% WC, that's about 58 gal of water.
How much do they charge per gallon?
Will one 80% W/C solve your nitrate issues?
I'd suggest looking into purchasing an affordable ro/di unit before heading to your LFS
I have 3 small tanks but my water volume combined should be similar to yours and I use about 40 to 50 gal in a month.
It will save you tons on a long run

You all are making total sense. As much as I didn't want to spend another $200 +/- I'm not really wanting to walk away from my fish tank. I'm going to look at a short/long term solution tomorrow morning. I'll either take the hit and do a water change with buying water for now, or perhaps just shell out the money if I find a decently priced one right away.

Here was the one that doesn't look sold.

Also check with FJW. You always just call them and ask. I do all the time.

I honestly believe BRS has one of the best ro/di systems out there. It's not so much on the unit itself but the filters that are used (of course)
Here's the link http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-4-stage-value-ro-di-system-75gpd-2.html. Take advantage of their BFSale :)
Sweet. It looks like there is a guy who might be selling one a bit better for $100.00 with new filters.

If I'm not mistaken the one he's selling is this one

That's a great deal, especially with new filters. Get it while you can lol
Yup I'm on it.. lol.

You all just got me to thinking into spending another 200 - 300 including the new RODI system, possibly a skimmer, and a new light for the sump... Thanks! :)

LOL.
I see you don't have a lot of live rock, this is something that could help lower your nitrate and keep your system more stable http://www.seachem.com/Products/product_pages/Matrix.html
Well see that's the reason why I'm wanting to stabilize the main tank. I currently have around 50 lbs of rock curing in the garage. I would hate to add the 50 lbs of live rock which would possibly make the current situation way worse. Haven't lost any fish yet, but scared I will if I just add all the rock at once. I also currently do have some matrix I put a week ago, it was added to the overflow part before the water goes down into the sock..

Your rock looks very dense, and you need a lot more than what you have. Recommended is 1lb/gallon of good quality live rock.

Oh okay....can I give one more suggestion, since you don't have a drilled tank, this is sort of off topic but having a matte black back would make your tank look a lot cleaner and hide all those cords and overflow box :)

Well see.. I'm looking to put in this rock wall that should take care of that.. I use to have one of those panoramic sea views on the back but recently took it off so I can try to clean it and not have anything hidden.. I know the tank looks rough, but its only like that for the come back... stay tuned, 2.0 coming soon...lol
