I'm reading over 50. I have a couple corals receding. Not sure if this is the root cause but just wanted input.

My nitrates are over 50 and all my coral are fine, mostly LPS and softies. I've herd people say they consistently have nitrates well over 100. So I don't think that's your issue.

What kind of corals are we talking?

1 acan, other 1 is fine
1 thrachifilia, other is fine.

Only weird thing to change was water got really low while I was out of town.

With low water your salinity prob went up and caused your corals to be unhappy. High nitrates can be an issue with acans, I like to keep mine 15-20. Anyhthing over 30 gives my acans issues.

IMO NO3 should be < 50ppm for softies , < 20ppm for hardy LPS , < 5ppm for SPS . You will have exceptions, but would not rely on that long term. Water changes are recommended at 30% once a week until you are < 30ppm . Let tank stabilize for 1-2 weeks, then mea. NO3. If good , then look into ways to keep NO3 down. Chemical/better husbandry practices. I have an option you can try now, but it takes about a month before you start to see results. Use Red Sea's " NO3PO4-X " . Follow direction closely. Good Luck @Randy Holmes-Farley (Would you please chime in, if you have time? Thanks Bud.
