Hello all. I just decided to place an ORP probe in my 300g FOWLR tank. It has been in there for about 3 weeks now. I am noticing without running carbon that the tank sits at 490-500 ORP. I went ahead at the same time and purchased an Ozone generator which I have yet to turn on. I am curious why the tank has such a high ORP and if I should be worried. Furthermore would there be any benefit to turning on the Ozone generator since the ORP is so high already.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

it takes a few days for a new ORP meter to settle in. you can turn on the O3 generator only if you set the on value to >300 or what ever number you want and to turn off at >350 or whatever number you want to turn off at.

No, dont worry since you have a high ORP without running O3.

You MUST have a ORP controller to turn on & off your O3 generator. If you dont, DO NOT turn it on!

I do not know if you understood my thread completely. The ORP probe has been in the tank for 3 weeks. I have it on a controller. I am very familiar with ozone.

My question was why my ORP is so high and if I was to turn it on would it provide any benefit to the tank since the ORP is already high. I am not running carbon for example so with such a high ORP without doing anything would I get the same benefits of ozone/carbon since my ORP is high already.
