High PH During Cycling or Bad Test

Going into week 3 of new tank cycle. Tank cycling with pukani rock only, there's no need to add anything as it turns out, amonia is at 4ppm. Apex is reading PH at 8.97 at night, settling down at 8.7 in the morning. Is this too high and should I supplement somehow, or just a bad test and needs re-calibarion?

Unless you have anything in the tank made of cement (like artificial rocks), then the pH is likely an error.

No. I'd recalibrate before worrying about it.

Of course 1.025 sig. That would be one weird cycle with just RODI water.
