I'm using hypo for the first time. my salinity has been at 1.09 for three days. I was under the impression that I will have e to battle low pH with this method. But I just tested the water and pH is off the chart. My test only goes up to 8.8 and it is atleast that. What do I do?

I would double check using a different test kit.

It's the only one I got. I use it on my DT and that tests between 8 and 8.2. I didn't have any baking soda the other day so I dosed some red Sea KH buffer to raise the KH from 4 to 5. Could this be the caused????

Very possible. Unless the fish are showing signs of distress, I would let it come down naturally.

Thanks for your fast response. I cleaned out the test tub and tried again. It's reading 7.4 now. Guess something must've gotten in the test tube.

If it’s actually 7.4, you need to raise it to at least 7.8 slowly.
