I mixed up a batch of saltwater yesterday, the PH is testing at 9.6 on hanna , off the chart on API and Salifert?

Last batch I mixed week ago everything was fine, This is the same box of salt

Water RO/DI 14 tds in 0 out
Salt Fritz RPM (using since I have started)
dKH 6.7

Brute trash can
Heater and powerhead in brute

You did not put in any things else in the water like baking soda by accident?

Just water , salt , heater and powerhead

Salinity 1.023 (checkes this around 8x now)
Alk 6.7 on hanna , 6.8 on red sea 7.0 on salifert

Try mixing a mini batch of water in a jug, about 35ish Grams per litre. test pH. If it’s normal, bleach or something has got into the big batch, then ditch.

Thanks will give this a go , and if same guessing salt can go bad?

Just mixed up a 1 gallon batch at 1.023 , ph 9.4 , Alk 6.5. This was right away

I'll check it again in hour

IMO, it is not accurate, but if it was that high, simple aeration will bring it down to 8.2 or less.

Measure each pH (tank water and new water) with the same meter in the same cup not in the tank.

The new salt water still reads above pH 9 and the tank is near 8.2?

If true, there's something wrong with the salt mix.

New mason jar
Tank 8.1 , fuge/sump 8.1

Same mason Jar new water
9.5

And this is correct: ??

"Last batch I mixed week ago everything was fine, This is the same box of salt"

So you made a batch of salt water and it was OK in pH, then a new batch of salt water from the same dry salt is not good?

Do you use separate anion and cation DI resins? When one is depleted (not 0-1 ppm TDS), it can get really high or low in pH of the pure RO/DI.

Correct, last batch from same box of dry salt , was 8.2ph and 11alk

Mixed bed DI , was using aquatic life RO/DI twist in , This is first batch with BRS 4 stage, I flushed 15gallons before I used it , aquatic life booster pump which auto flushes everytime you plug it in.

That is correct, thought I was missing something.

Did the first batch have time to precipitate calcium carbonate? That will lower alk and pH.

Usally let sit 12-14 hours after mixing it test it and do my WC

This batch sat for 13 hours , tested it and the results are in 1st post.
