Hi all

Im looking for everyone’s option on high PH. One of my tanks that’s been up 6 years, mainly lps and softies but a couple of sps bits. Everything grows fast and is happy. But the ph sits at its lowest 8.5 and its highest 8.92

What are you using to test?

I'd expect your water to become cloudy if that reading is true.

Did you clean the probe? How did you calibrate? How old is the probe?
Both probes are new, brought new ones to double check! Probes are cleaned using a probe cleaner, rinsed in ro etc. testing my other tanks with the same equipment shows lower phs values on those tanks 8/8.3

Re calibrated monthly on the reef machine, and before testing with the hanna.

Time to do so again. Very high pH with normal alk, in the absence of using very high pH alk additives, can only be due to test error or very poor aeration.

Measure the pH away from the tank in case electrical interference is causing the error.

The aeration test is a good plan.
