Just wondering if anyone has trouble with high ph. My tank us running from 8.4- 8.5. All the reading I have done I gather that CO2 drives the PH down. So would the higher PH mean water is just higher in O2? The tank looks good so I really don't want to go trying to adjust it with buffers and stuff. All my efforts to raise PH in the past just ended up a roller coaster up and down worse. My Calcium is around 440, Alk is 7-8 Magnesium is around 1400, temp is 77, Nitrate 5-10, phosphate 0. Tank is around 6 months old. Just got dosers started and plan to add a fuge light so my swing should reduce some. Dosing brs 2 part.

The apex probe. Plan to calibrate it in ext day or so, but has always ran high on the tank. I thought it would come down eventually but has maintained high numbers. Calibrated before using, only have the 7.0 fluid right now the 10.0 should be here early next week.

Try putting some tank water in a cup and the probe in and see if it reads the same. If not then you have some electrical interference messing up the reading. The Apex is supposed to not have that problem like the older aquacontrollers but I would check to make sure.

If your readings are correct. I agree ^^ that there's absolutely nothing wrong with 8.4 - 8.5. When I was dripping kalkwasser my pH always stayed the same as that.

Ok thanks. I read a lot on it being that high and says it is acceptable up to 5. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem. I plan to calibrate as soon as I get the 10.0 solution next week just to be sure. Most of the time the PH is hard to maintain at 8.3 let alone 8.4-8.5. Everything looks good except the acans and I think the peppermint shrimp are robbing there food. Will be using my bottle to feed from now on. Hopefully that will help out.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it keeps climbing.
