Sooo this is my second time to set this tank up (8 gallon cadlights). Two different states. This time it has a refugium, last time it did not.

I have had issues with high ph both times. Different rock and different sand.

It seems to enjoy living at 8.5-8.6!!! I have struggled to get my pH up in just about every other tank I’ve owned.

any ideas? Pics are of my apex. I dropped the probe back into calibration fluid just to recheck that it was calibrated correctly as you can see from pics it looks pretty accurate. I did not recheck this time with a ph kit... I did consistently when I had this same tank set up in CO! And it always seemed to be spot on.

what am I missing?
