Soo, I dosed fritz copper to treat a new tang that I got from my LFS before I put it in my established tank. My copper is 1.5 and everything else in the tank parameter-wise is spot on, but my phosphates are such a high number (above 3 for sure), I have never seen it. Does dosing copper throw the phosphates through the roof or what? @vetteguy53081 opinion reef master?

Also been dosing 0.5 ppm of copper per day. Also, it is the 5-gallon QT. Fish is doing amazing though, no Ick or illness from my human eyes, and is eating like an absolute mad man.

Phosphate may be associated with the water used but first thing - Get that copper level to at LEAST 2.0, even 2.25
How are you testing the copper level?

Do not ramp it up as it allows any given disease to gain control of the fish and resist treatment. Bring up asap

Okay got it up past 2.0ppm might be a little higher as the sailfert test I have only shows up to 2.0ppm. Now should I worry about the high phosphates with it being a QT with only him in there?

In QT, not really but assuming the numbers are accurate, you can take a water sample to an LFS that does not use Api tests and see what numbers they come up with
