Hello, I have been dealing with lots of hair algae which produced Dino’s and bottomed out nutrients for months

I am finally seeming to come around to beating it off but now my nutrients was .01 the other day and it’s .8 now !!! Was there a massive nutrient die off from the algae ? I have been feeding no different. Half algae sheet in the day, 1 feeding of mysis feast and sometimes at night

My SPS are showing immediate tissue loss from base up . Are they gone ?

How can I safely reduce.

Highly doubt that’s your problem with the Sps I’ve ran tanks with Much higher po4 and the Sps thrived… you can start by adding phosphate E or running gfo but I’d guess your sticks are really gonna peel as they don’t like that stuff lol..

I agree that high po4 is fine but not immediate in a week or a few days

I’ll go grab phos E and i am not sure if they peel but definitely are showing pale areas at the bottom

Any pics? Pale is bleaching cause they’re hungry or the light is too intense..

I will test again when I return , I only tested alk and salt , all normal. No temp swings or pH, I use Neptune for those

These SPS have been in the tank for months during this algae breakout and they have been coloring up great and growing but I noticed pale sticks and I tested phos immediately .

Alk has been 9-9.5 for a month now as I test every few days

If it was bad light intensity wouldn’t they bleach from the top? I only have them in 30% it’s very low light due to the hair algae I don’t want to run high light

To keep nutrients good for the coral I feed decently and just run heavy out before the hair algae gets it, I run refugium and skimm all the time

Update : I realized when I was rush testing this morning that I might of fed mysis feast and tested phos right after lol

Phos 0.07 (expected due to more feeding)

For the SPS (paleness) this is what I was referring to . Looks great but when I turn on whites you can see the pale

Is it just from shadowing ?
Pics are light vs no light

Looks like shadowing to me.
I'm glad you realized the feeding caused high phosphate.
Happy reefing
