i have a spectra pure 4 stage RODI hooked up in garage to a spicket. I am getting 50lbs of pressure which is good, but I have this annoying hum that comes from the spicket. Spicket to a 1/4" poly hose. Anyone ever ran into this, and what did you do?

Might just be hearing the hum vibrating through your pipe from your main pump. I have a spicket outside my house that is fairly close to the main well pump and i can hear the hum if the pump is running.

We're on city water. It's actually controlled through a gate valve. If I close the valve a bit, it goes away but my pressure drops to 20.

could be resonance? say that thing is ringing at 14,000. Somewhere there could be a 3,500 pitch ring causing the other thing to harmonize and simply ring from the others energy. Idk if that's what's happening but sounds cool ;p

P.s. It's a real thing though. Apparently it was discovered by a blacksmith that had all his hammers in a ratio and when he struck the anvil another of his hammers would ring.

I think that's how a microwave works also. The water molecules harmonize to the microwave and spin.

But with music equipment it also happens. If I played low C on a piano then a higher C will ring if the damper peddle is off. Some times if I sneeze around a drum set I can hear the drum harmonizing with my sneeze for a second the drum will ring.

Also some Egyptians had monuments tuned to a frequency. My theory is they could've had a big orchestra and played to the tuning of the structure causing it to ring and vibrate on the ground in effect making it lighter as the slaves pulled the blocks. Never tried it though.. I guess it would be a way more mild version of a vibrating cellphone on a table.

I get that noise every once in a while. it's usually because not all of the air is purged from one canister.

Mine happens at the back flow preventer attached to the hosebib. Took me a while to remove it. Once removed, no more high pitched noise!
