hello,
i want to cycle my new rock
but i will put it in a room without any cooling in the room
if the temp get up to 110f can the Bactria still live ?
also for the salinity how much can i put it ?

There are varying 'opinions' on this - and though they might 'live' - they will likely not grow well or thrive - so you are not going to get much 'cycling' going on. Some people say they are killed at 105-106 - others say 40 C - which is 104 C. I would not think this is a good idea. They grow optimally at 84-86.

For salinity - I would use the same salinity you're using for your eventual tank.

How are you planning on 'cycling' your rock in 2 weeks (i.e. what method)

Agree the bacteria will grow better a temp above the recommended tank temp with fish and inserts are in it.
But do you have a means of keeping the cycled tank in range in that room?

i don't know exactly when i will start my tank, it might take 2-4 month tell i get everything ready, but for that time i was planning to but the rocks with Bactria and add ammonia to it each week for example and keep adding Bactria

my AC will be turned of at that times but later it will be run 24/7 also for the tank,

for now i can also use the chiller on the rock tabs to set it to 35 degree is that good ? i was going without chiller at less to save some bill :P

just saw your location - so understand the room temp better - smile
my moderately educated guess is you can help to cycle up to mid-90's above that it will deteriorate till it stops, and 105 would be around the stop temp

I would not let it get that hot. Fans and evaporation can help. I would not let it get much over 85 degrees. There is more to good live rock that you want to live than just bacteria - the microfauna, coralline, starfish, worms all can live through a cure and they are great.

I would also this outside with the chiller if you can. Do you have a shady area? It can REALLY stink if you have much die off. I usually set a protein skimmer on top of the rock to help with evaporation and also organic removal since I do cure outside mostly in the summer. Lots of flow in the container will help too.

If you want to search or get more help, "curing" live rock will get you more results of past threads and stuff.

yes its so hot around here :P and we just got in summer and outside is +45degree

ok i will start with a chiller better
i am thinking to get a pool and fill it with the water and rock and let it cycle, also will keep more rocks so anyone around me who want a nice good clean rocks can grab it

will add
1- protein skimmer
2- chiller
3- Bactria
4- ammonia

and rather than the last 2 point later on
i might get some QT fish and put it there

The rock can add enough bacteria and organic. No need for ammonia or bacteria supplements.

Do you all have a source for good real live rock there?

no we don't
we get the rock direct from the sea or the Beach, or exported
will get a dry rock and use BW for it
