I recently added a coralife 5w uv sterilizer. Yesterday i noticed my tank temp is 80 degrees. I have heater and heater controller set at 78. Before sterilizer temp was pretty steady at 78. Is the uv sterilizer the cause of temp change? I have been running it 24/7 for about a week. Is that too long? How long per day should i run it? Pumps feel normal. I’m going to leave the lights off and lid open today to get temp down.

We have a biocube 32 and it ALWAYS runs hot. Set your heater temperature 2-3 degrees lower than your goal temp. So if you are looking for 78 degrees, set your heater to 75/76 and you will be good!!!

Tank has been up for almost 4 months. It has run steady at 78 until I hooked up the uV. So I’m guessing the uv is raising the temp so I’ll set my heater controller to 76.
