just got my icp testing back and dangerous levels of tin and chromium are reported. I did one three months ago and they were zero. Need help troubleshooting please. Triton says most likely causes are contaminated salt/trace elements or metal in the aquarium...

I have a refer 350 , little over 1 year old. I use for pumps vv1 return, a cobalt mj1200 feeding brs reactor running brs high capacity gfo. And reef oct int 150 skimmer... took apart and cleaned all , didn’t see any damage. Use 2 mp10 in tank , checked them too...

Also checked apex probes for any corrosion or damage they look fine too..

I did just change heaters from two ehim to two neothems... checked them and didn’t see any seam issues....

I’m dosing brs pharmacy two part, and tropic marine part c for trace elements, trace dos be a cause? Just running gfo no carbon...I use tropic marine pro salt. Could salt be issue?

For water running RODI with two di mixed beds , tds out of ro is 12 and 0 after di....

Searched sump and tank don’t see any metal....

Only other thing in tank is magnetic frag rack...checked and didn’t see any issues with sealing on magnets...

Checked pumps and heater in salt mixing too look fine..

Anything I’m missing? Iron at zero if it was something rusting would that not be elevated??

Fish and corals look good....but inverts do seem to die often..

Anyone have same and find a cause?

Thanks!

Can you send them a sample of your salt mixed in some RODI? The only other thing that stood out is the Neotherms. Have had some problems in the past melting down.

Quite a mystery you've got going.

I have read other reports of this. Maybe we all have it. Someone speculated that it leeches from the glass, apparently it is part of the process of glass making and if the glass is not properly cleaned it sticks to the glass and eventually gets in to the water. I think I will go with this theory:)

Here is my icp

Cuprasorb will work well as a stop gap until you find the source. I run it 24/7 just in case a heater blows or a screw/penny somehow falls into the tank without my knowing. Binds all heavy metals to some extent.

Since you use the expensive pharmacutical grade salt, you know it is not coming from there.... for once someone reaps a tangible benefit from paying double for salt.
