Just wondering if a higher alkalinity tank (9.5 dkh or higher for example) would be significantly less prone than a lower alkalinity tank for algae to grow or to take hold?

My alk has been sitting consistently at 11 and I get algae like crazy!! I clean the glass 3 times a week

Was hoping this would be a more hostile environment to algae.....is there such a thing?

I think you are thinking of higher magnesium, and that was mostly due to an impurity of kent's magnesium addititive which is no longer made in that way. Also I keep my alk at about 7.5 and have no algae issues at all :)

Brightwell claims their new Hydrat-MG replicates the old Tech M.

Do not have bryopsis......just good old hair algae. So it seems like high magnesium is the only deterrent to GHA maybe.
