hello reffer I'm kinda new and have been doing some research and seen that Elevated parameters may help growth in corals I've slowly risen my parameters as i was experimenting was wondering your opinion ?
salinity 1.027
alkalinity 14
calcium 455
magnesium 1600
ph 8.8
nitrate 0.3
phosphate 0.04
I had really good results with my leathers and star polip and all marine life seems really healthy
curious on your opinion and If i should change my methods
pics where taken at night

No. I would not raise them that high (particularly alk and magnesium). I think I know where you are coming from, but what you should do is match your salt's parameters. Then I would also possibly dose aminos since nitrate is decently low (or feed the fish more frequently)

Since u asked....personally I am not a fan of those parameters...specifically alk that high and nutrients that low.

There was a time I ran at much higher than normal levels(11-12dk and 1.027). I found my tank ran great this way. I also found it quickly went downhill if I drifted higher on either of those parameters or if my nutrients dropped.

Having said that both leathers and gsp are generally extremely hardy corals that do well in a wife variety of parameters. That they do well at the parameters you are running I don't find surprising....but believe they would do well at 1.023, 7dkh, and 7.8 pH also.

thanks for the advice I will definitely slack off the dosing of alkalinity and magnesium and reduce my salinity and try and bring down my ph really appreciate the advice
