Flush kits don't do anything for the membrane and DI, a DI bypass valve is what you need to get rid of TDS creep and to extend the life of the DI resin. Flush kits are on the waste side, TDS creep is on the treated side.
Again, flush kits are on the waste side and do little except give you a warm fuzzy feeling and lighten your wallet. A DI bypass though is useful and costs maybe $6-$8 at most for a 1/4" tee and ball valve you install between the RO membrane and the DI filter. Open the bypass when you turn the system on and flush the first few ounces to the drain and close it when the RO only TDS drops to its normal range meaning the TDS creep (on the treated side of the membrane not the waste side) has passed.
You could run a flush kit all day long and the RO TDS isn't going to drop. Open a DI bypass and the TDS drops right away since it ison the treated side and will make its way to the DI resin if not flushed out. Two very different things.

not reading that. Thought I was pretty clear, not here to argue about some random offshoot.You mention "popular belief", it is just that with no documented proven data to back it up. Find one single independent published report showing otherwise. Having been in the water treatment industry for over 40 years I have a pretty good understanding of how and what works.

I am not seeing random offshoots here just facts about proper ways to flush for specific purposes.
