Hey all,
I think I had been skipping a part of the api nitrate test. Wasn't shaking bottle 2 for 30 seconds prior to the test- anyways, I had been showing nitrate at 15-20 for the last 4 months.. I am running a fluval flex 32.5, intank media baskets. Floss on top chemipure blue on one middle rack, purigen on the other and marine pure gems on the bottom 2. Extra bioballs under baskets with bag of carbon. I run a Tunze 9001 dc skimmer (does great) 9watt uv sterilizer, i have a semi heavy bio-load, lots of corals mostly lps, 9 small fish. All are and have been doing very well. Corals look great!

2 weeks ago I converted one center rack in my intank basket to a refugium, back lit with a nice fuge light.. chaeto has doubled insize!! However, I took 2 nitrate tests yesterday and my nitrates are at 80! My phosphates are at near zero. .002! All my corals are out and look great! But I can't understand how they are alive!

Calsium-477 (hannah)
Mag- 1484 (hannah)
Alk - 9.6 (hannah)
Nitrate - 80 api
Phosphate - almost 0 (fluval)
Amonia- 0
Nitrites - 0

What should in do???

I didn't even know fluval made tests for saltwater. I would get a better test or second opinion.
