l I just responded over on your other post. Let's stick with this one, as I check this section most often, and multiple threads on the same topic are problematic. As I mentioned, HLLE scars can go away, but usually require moving the fish to a new tank. Here is a recent article posted on this topic:

Not sure I understand - I've heard of purple tangs with HLLE being sold as "seconds" but to be sold as "healed" wouldn't the lesions have to have gone away?

Leave in quarantine and assure it gets proper diet and vitamins. There is no singular cause for Hole-In-The-Head Disease, and there are some species of fish that seem predisposed to it, such as surgeons and tangs.
Some possible causes or influences on the progression of Hole-In-The-Head Disease include:
Feed at minimum:
Spirulina brine shrimp
mysis shrimp
small plankton
Formula 2 flake and frozen
LRS herbivore diet
Nori seaweed basted with garlic for immune system
Add garlic extract and selcon vitamins to foods alternating days each week
Some possible causes or influences on the progression of Hole-In-The-Head Disease include:
- Stressors including aggresion and poor water quality
- Nutritional deficiency
- use of activated carbon
- stray voltage
