I was going to purchase this fish, to treat it for ich and give it a better home, but that would require me to upgrade to my dream tank (240gal) sooner than I’m ready for. This fish is approximately 3-3.5” in length and has been at this petco in the same tank for about 6 months. If someone has the means and is looking for a new member they offered me 20% off to buy it

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it’s a nice fish and it sucks seeing it not get sold and slowly loose it’s colors. It’s swimming around fine and is unfortunately bullying a baby powder blue tang in the tank (another rescue if anyone is interested).
Do your research before making the trip, as these fish get huge (up to 16”) and will need QT to rid it of its ich.

Did you post a picture - can't see it. IMHO - I would recommend that the hillside Petco - treat the tang - rather than waiting for someone to buy it here. BTW - sailfish tangs do not get that big in captivity. It would thrive in your tank easily for a couple decades

I currently have a 65 gallon tank. So I’m not sure of their growth rate. I have the means to treat it but didn’t know if I would have the means to house it. Also I didn’t post a picture, wasn’t thinking. The lady said they stopped treating for ich because fishes were dying, I guess they don’t have a tank that’s not connected to the same system. Lastly I feel bad for all their fish the tanks are in very sh**** condition. I don’t want to support their saltwater fish selling habits but at the same time this tang is a very nice fish. If I do get it I have the ability to do copper or TTM, again I’m not sure if 65 gallons is big enough. I will have the means for the 240 gal next year end of summer.

This in IL? Is it the Petco on Kingery Highway? I've recently gotten two of their sick Blue Hippo Tangs (for a really sweet deal - better then 50%) that were basically transparent they were so far gone with HLLE. The big one will recover completely but the little one will be scarred for life (missing gill flap, missing dorsal and ventral fins). Also saved a Coral Beauty for a discount from bacterial infection from a scrape.

Upgrade the tank for you, not the fish... there will always be another sick fish.
