Hinges rusting, help...

Spray everything with Rustoleum NeverWet. Obviously you need to do it away from tank, but it does keep things from rusting

Crazy thing is I'm pretty darn sure they are stainless.

Stainless steel still rusts. I use stainless steel steak knives to cut up my frozen food slabs and I have to replace them every year or so. Same as my stainless steel feeding tongs for my eel.
Some kind of water resistant paint as mentioned above would be a good option :)

I put 2 coats of cheap $2 spray paint primer and a coat of artist quality black spray paint on mine and they haven't rusted. That was only a few months though so I don't know how it will hold up long term. I imagine the paint may chip off or get ground away eventually. For a quick fix it should work though.

I end up replacing all my hinges every 5-6 years.
I have never found any that doesn't rust.

If you could find hinges that are made from 316 stainless, with a little care would last longer.

I decided to cover all my hinges in 100% silicone grease. Non-petroleum.

Hope this protects them.

Did your hinge still rust Fishinwall???? covering with silicon grease?

Yes they all rusted. I think the silicone did help. But probably would have been better if they were coated before any exposure to salt.

I'm about to replace all the hinges but this time spray them with silicone or maybe the wet stuff recommended above.

Vaseline.

Grind off rust with dremel, then spray paint them with zinc spray paint from home depot. I did that a few years ago after mine were starting to rust and they are still rust free.
