I have got a Hippo in his third week of cupramine QT. He had ich right out of the LFS. All visible signs of ich disappeared around day 5. I plan on keeping him in QT until day 30. Treated with GC day 1 and day 6 for suspected black ich as well.

Problem is that he is still flashing. Is this normal? Or do I have some sort of resistive strain of fluke? I dont want to do a fw dip in the middle of a QT cycle

How are you testing copper levels?

Any signs of disease? Spots still present?

You can do a fw dip, it won’t impact your copper timeline, just make sure the temperature matches.

Testing with seachem test kit. No sign of disease/spots since around day 5. I have heard hippos act strange. Not sure if this behavior fits that category. If not maybe I have flukes that survived the GC.

Sometimes the copper irritates a fish's skin. This is especially true with tangs of the blue coloration for some reason. Just keep an eye out for a bacterial infection if the fish injures itself by scratching. Be prepared with a wide spectrum antibiotic like Kanaplex, Furan2, NFG, Sulfaplex (triple sulfa).
