Hello,

Trying to diagnose and treat this sore on the side of a hippo. Hippo was in a batch of 3 that all went through a modified ttm plus a (2x) h2o2 dip for ich. Fish looked good for several days after and went back into a holding tank while the main display goes through a fallow period. About a week after the ttm this spot showed up. Any thoughts? The tang was separated from the other two into the sump. Will swim around some but isn't aggressively eating any more.

Thanks!

Difficult to see in the pic, but most likely a bacterial disease. The pale edging around the primary lesion indicates that it is probably spreading. Is the fish still breathing at the same rate as the other tangs? Do you have the ability to move it to a treatment tank and dose with a broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic? If so, you might want to consider doing so. Picking an antibiotic is purely a guess - do you have any on hand that might work?
