hippo tang and yellow tang

hey guys i have 75 gallon reef going for about 8 months now. i have a small hippo flame angel 1 chromis all added at same time when i started the tank. i wanted to add a yellow tang you think it will cause a issue?

Yes tank is too small for a yellow and a hippo tang. Once they grow aggression will get worse .

I think you will be fine with adding a yellow tang. For a good 2-3 years anyway if you purchase it small. The hippo will out grow eventually. Yellow should be fine indefinitely.

Doesn't a hippy tank need a 180 gallon tank?

I agree with Lazyliven. Those two tangs should be fine together but the hippo will definitely out grow the 75. You will need to start planning your 180 now.

ok great the yellow tang im looking at is alot smaller than my hippo. i do plan on setting up a 225 in the next year. does anybody know about the mimic lemon peel tang? i like those alot i just dont know enough about them. i would much rather have one of those then the yellow. its a nice fish from what i hear stays fairly small

I have one. Great fish, but doesn't keep the vibrant yellow as it matures. Its a brownish yellow mix as it gets older, but does stay small. Easy to feed, not finicky.

I have a mimic and live them. Hardy as all get out. It's definately an acquired taste. But they are interesting fish.

I also have a hippo in my 110 and they get along fine.

They are a pretty good pair so far.
