Hippo tang in a 75 gallon

Hi all,

My LFS sold me a hippo tang and said it’s fine in my 75 gallon for at least a couple years if not 3-5 years and at that time we can come exchange it for a juvenile.. This seems too good to true but I guess they do that for their customers. Does anyone see any problems with this?

how big is the hippo tang they sold you? From personal experience it all depends on the size of the tang if its 1-3 inches you should be fine for now. But, it won't take 3-5 years to outgrow your tank I would say it would take 1-3 years but again that depends on the size of the fish.

Should be okay for a while in a 75. Good luck not getting attached. Once it’s bigger than 3 or 4 inches it’ll probably start getting aggressive.

Then currently I think your fine, but as it gets bigger it may become aggressive. However if your planning on upgrading your tank sometime you should be able to keep him for a long time.
