I'd like some opinions on this with my Hippo Tang. This was not there at all yesterday. My initial thought is that it is an injury, possibly a sting from the Foxface but I would like another opinion. For right now, I'm just monitoring to see if it gets worse.

Edit: This is a picture from yesterday where you can see the same spot with no damage.

I agree with you. Appears to be a sting or injury. I would just watch for redness. If it begins to worsen or turn red I would move to QT and treat.

I have a spot about like that on my PT tail in DT. Been watching it for about a week and it's improving.

I'm thinking I was worried about this for nothing. Can a fish really heal this much in 3 hours?
I ran an errand and came home to see him like this now.

If they are in good health, fish can heal very rapidly. I used to have a Blonde Naso that would have pits all over his body from another tang's barb, and later that same day he looked 100% healed.

Color me impressed! I think in 15 more minutes it will be gone. It looks better every time he swims by.

Guess I don't need to worry about him being healthy! Thanks for the reassurance guys!

It's definitely not worrying for nothing... We have all been there! Alot of time and effort goes into these fish!

I don't spend nearly as much time inspecting DT fish, but I see concerning things every once and a while!

Now I have 3 QTs to worry about, thanks to @4FordFamily. :o

And just like that, it is down to a tiny orange dot that I would never have noticed if not watching it closely. Fish are such amazing creatures!

Looks like a small injury. My yellow belly regal randomly gets washed out in color in a few blotches and then is fine 15 minutes later. Been that way since I’ve had her a few months.
