Hippo tang turned agressive toward triggers?

Hey guys, have a hippo tang about 2.5 years old. Had a blue throat trigger in with her. The trigger died recently so I added a male/female pair. The tang has been relentless with chasing them down and attacking. I’m wondering now if she turned on the other trigger too causing his inexplicable demise.
the new pair are much smaller than the tang and they aren’t the same speciesism obviously- why is she being aggressive?!
I’ve tried to catch her and utterly failed- it’s a 6foot 220g tank with a lot of rock work. The triggers are in hiding.
what can I do?

My rule is. Of the fish has been in the system and I really wanted it. Than a newcomer that fails will be rehomed

Upset the hierarchy of the tank. Build a fish trap and remove the tang for awhile, then reintroduce. Hopefully you have a spare tank you can put it in.

If I can catch him I’ll probably just reborn him but at this point I can’t catch any of them. The triggers are in the rocks and the tang is too fast. Fish sedatives?! Lol.
Im just surprised. I thought Tangs only got agressive with similar tangs- esp after living together for over a year with the trigger? (If the tang did actually kill it- unsure).

This post has triggered me with exuberant holiday cheer! I love your blue tang, but according to your description, that fish needs the help of an exorcist. Any fish that moves in the tank is a target for your tang.

To catch the fish you could drain the tank, but since you are dealing with the devil I would recommend a bottle (liter size) of club soda. Turn off all tank circulation and aeration, and then shake the bottle vigorously before immersing the cap and neck in the tank. Crack open the seal to allow the CO2 to leak into the water. The escaping CO2 will displace O2 and the fish will get calm, sluggish, and if you have enough CO2 (I've never done a 220, just a 5 gallon bucket) the fish will be knocked out. Fast asleep and fairly quickly.

After they have been gassed, net all of the fish and place them into buckets that have properly oxygenated water and they will recover. If they go totally limp and are not trying to swim, then I would "swim" them with your hand around the bucket to force oxygenated water across their gills and wake them up.
Always use proper caution to keep water, electricity, and other hazards from causing injury. Gloves, eye protection, and maybe even a gold crucifix that has been blessed by the Pope should be worn until the devil has been extracted from the tank.

Aerate the tank for a few minutes and put the keepers back it.
