This may sound sound ridiculous, but could i get a hippo tang or foxface rabbitfish, or a powder blue tang in a 100 gallon? 60x18x24 preferably a hippo but any would be amazing. Some say minimum tank size 125, 100, 150, so i need more input. I have a picasso trigger, a valentini puffer, 2 domino damsels, and a little clown.

I wouldn’t keep a hippo tang long term in less than 180g, they get absolutely massive. A Foxface or a powder blue (or both) would be okay long term in a 5’ 100g tank.

I wouldnt place a 9" hepatus in a tank less than a 210g but you can sure introduce a 3-4" specimen. Powder blue is one of the fastest growing tanks and will attain 8 or more inches in several months and Foxface depending on type should also be ok as they average 5-6". Hepatus gets to an average 6" captivity and Ive seen them go 3 to 6" in a year.

Alright, thanks for letting me know. Ive seen all 3 in a 80 gallon before. Crazy.

Wow they're beautiful. Would they all be compatibal with my current stock? (Powder blue or foxface)
I have them in quite a large tank and adding all together in tank you have would be pushing it due to growth and aggression

so could i not get either of them?
hepatus blue is fine. Some are model citizens while some can be jerks.
Only if fish could talk and let us know

that would be a dream. I guess ill get a hepatus blue then and then just exchange him when he gets to big. Im assuming my lfs has a baby one, so that'll work for a couple months possibly.

i have small hippo, 4-5" fox face and 3-4" yellow tang in a 4' 120. when and if they get too big sell them but enjoy them untill then

yeah, i really want a hippo but they are semi aggressive and a foxface is supposidly peaceful. Im just gonna have to go with the foxface for now.

What does baby mean? 1 inch or so? I think you have more than a couple of months. It also depends on how much you feed it. I have a pretty low opinion of LFS, there aren't just any quality ones around me. Hippos are ich magnets, so I strongly recommend quarantine for them.
