Hitch08 Build....re-Build Thread

Thanks!!

Yes, that's a Fluval SP4 return pump. I use an SP6 for my protein skimmer. Very happen with both of them. Do you use one?
Yes I have an SP4 for my return. I was really happy with it but after a couple of months it started making a buzzing sound. I've stripped it several times to try and fix it but it still does it.

Sometimes if I choke the intake with the palm of my hand it stops. Not all the time though.

Scottish - if you happen to see this....question/suggestion for you.

When you took it apart, did you go further than just removing the plastic cover? You can remove the impeller/magnetic rotor pieces. You might have something that is bouncing around in there.

Yes I took the impeller put and cleaned everything. It actually sounds like I'm not potting the plastic cover back on tight enough but it is on as far as it will go.

It's strange how choking the intake stops it for a while. Its due to be cleaned soon anyway so I will have another look but I'm really not sure what's up with it. It started after a power cut and hasn't been the same since
