Hi all,

I have two hitchhiker anemones as far as I can tell.
I thought this was a curlicue (Bartholomea annulata) but my other anemone was just identified as a curlicue and they each look quite different. This one has expanded quite a bit over the last week and its oral disk is now iridescent blue but I can’t get a good picture because the only way to see it is by looking down at my tank and my phone won’t focus through the rippling water.

Here’s a picture of it when it was new and then another picture that I just took. Unfortunately can’t turn the rock around easily at the moment either but you can see from the span of the tentacles that it’s expanding. The tentacles are striped blue/teal and clear and are smooth.

thanks!

If you don’t have aptasia meds to kill it (didn’t totally work for me) then use a large syringe and boil hot water then blast it up close it will totally fry it and it will not come back as long as it’s cooked dead! Make sure nothing around it will get the boiling water because it will get injured or die. I’ve had great results by using the boiled water and syringe (it’s also not putting any chemicals into your system either). If you can get a needle like 20guage that will make it better because the pressure and prolonged time to decompress the syringe. Hope that helps you out.

The same way like @Josh_boss say, but in the syringe vinegar or lemon juice (don't need much 5ml should be enough, but slowly realize in it
