Any idea what this is? It’s a hitchhiker on some live rock, about the size of a dime

This one is about 6 months old. Second reef tank. The hitchhiker looked more like a coral to me. I can’t see the base to know if it has a skeleton. It retracts, so I figure it must be one of the bad anemones. No real tentacles though. Just kind of bubbles.

6 months is really too young of a tank to be trying to keep a BTA IMHO. I didn't place mine until 9 months and that's not accounting for the 4 months I cycled my rock making 13 months total before placement. It likely is just not an established enough system to support the needs of a BTA.

@NickT Head on over to the "Meet & Greet" forum and make an introduction, post up a question there, and a photo of said nem.

The anemone was fine until a couple of days ago. Had the wonderful experience of everything going great, left town for two days, the water pump in the sump got clogged, Left with just three power heads for circulation and a canister filter I’m using for a little additional filtration because it’s around. Anyway, came back to red slime and more hair algae than I care for. In the middle of doing a major, but slow water change to try and get things back.
